A Family Stricken With 2 Sick Children

As this family called to ask for assistance, it was almost as if it was meant to be that we connected.  The mother of 3, working so hard to support her family alone, was doing so until her second son became ill with a mysterious illness, requiring that both her chronically ill son, and her youngest son, be hospitalized at the same time.

Amber (Sibling Program)

This was an exciting project for one of our staff members, Lauren.  The sibling of a heart transplant patient was going off to college.  The family has experienced so many traumas in a small period of time, that paying attention, let alone money, to the details needed to move a young girl into her college dorm was difficult to say the least!

DJ

DJ was born missing facial extremities, and in need of a transplant.  His family were immigrants and unable to pay for any of his care, or provide the necessary equipment to take care of him at home.  We received a request for financial assistance to pay for housing.

Gracie

Gracie was our very first referral!  As we wondered what we would do, or should do, Gracie and her family were brought into our lives to help us define that mission.  Gracie’s parents first called us while they were in the SAME hospital room that Elena had spent so many nights.
